Hello,

If you are reading this, you are probably on my website. So first of all welcome. Recently, a major number of YoYo Games members, including Game Maker developers, have become increasingly angered at the disrespect towards YoYo Games regarding various projects being worked on by your team. I myself am disappointed. But as I said, I am not alone.

First off, I want to discuss a few major reasons why people are happy with what you do. The first issue is the Firefox 3 Instant Play plugin. You responded quickly and came out with a fix to the FireFox 3 incompatibility issues. Not only does this show that you truly listen to your customers, but it also shows that developers can count on Yo-Yo Games in that they will fix problems arising with their services, instead of just saying 'Deal with it.'

The second thing that is satisfying people is the amount of updates on the conversion of the Game Maker runner to C++. Now, you have constantly supplied to us that progress was being made (in almost every Glog post for the past half year), which is an infinite times more information than we ever got before you arrived. Some may see this as a ‘Meh, doesn’t really matter’ kind of issue, but others are extremely satisfied that you give us this information, completely on your own time, and that we can even know what's going on with Game Maker development.

Finally, and this is also part of the second issue, is the new version of Game Maker for Mac OS X. I myself have been extremely interested in this for a very long time now (since you announced that you where committing to the project on September 6th, 2007) and have been constantly supplied with information that shows you are making progress, even including actual videos of the GM interface. Great job, and I'm hoping that the Mac release comes out soon, but I know that a total re-write of something this massive could take 5 years, and you are doing a great job on it. I also hear you are running into problems because of your gracious news feeding on the Glog.

And here we are today, almost halfway through July, with a fix for the FireFox 3 plugin issues. And to make it better, your posts on the GMC prove that you listen to the most ridiculous demands of the most uninformed people on the GMC, and try to make everyone happy. Thank you YYG, for all the great things you have done for GM, including, but not limited to:

-Developing a huge website where any common developer can post their game, and get thousands of plays they wouldn't have got elsewhere.

-Constantly supplying us with news you don't have to, in hopes to make every single user of GM happy. Every. Last. One.

-Giving us a free option to upgrade our registered version of Game Maker, something which you didn't have to do, and most likely cost you more than it helped you.

-Fixing the MySQL error on the GMC, something which prohibited even viewing the board without waiting 30 minutes to get past the error.

-Providing customer support that is very responsive to anybody that writes a ticket with half a brain. I personally received a response from you in 2 days, on importance normal, with a solution to my problem. Twice. This is very surprising considering you probably have hundreds of tickets per day to deal with.

-Making GM run on Mac. Anybody that was here before you came will realize to significance of this without explanation.

-Running competitions which shell out $1,750 in prize money each, something nearly unheard of before you came.

-All the other small things you do for us GM users, including increasing our PM box limit and upgrading the GMC to the latest IBP Board.

Thank You,

The Supporters of This Letter - most of the GMC.
